John Gardner

John has worked at GSS since 2015. As a Senior Manager, John leads GSS’s Financial Managers, Property Managers and Care Managers in making fiduciary decisions in complex and difficult situations. John specializes in supervising trust and probate estate administration, along with financial and care management for GSS’s durable power of attorney, guardianship, and conservatorship clients.

John understands that when clients are considering GSS for a fiduciary role, it is often the first time they have encountered the niche industry of professional fiduciary services. John enjoys educating new and prospective clients on GSS’s services and duties and translating industry terminology into language that is applicable to real life. John recognizes the enormous amount of trust individuals and families place in GSS to carry out their directives and wishes. He prioritizes building and maintaining strong relationships with GSS’s new and longtime clients through commitment, reliability, and transparency.

John serves on GSS’s board of directors with GSS’s founders and outside professional members. John also works closely with GSS’s President and his father, Edward Gardner, on corporate governance and operations. At GSS, John feels fortunate to have both an experienced team of managers to collaborate with on major decisions along with the opportunity to mentor and develop GSS’s next generation of professionals.

John was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He majored in accounting at the University of Washington Foster School of Business, where he went on to receive his Master’s in Public Accounting – Taxation. Upon graduation, he worked in the tax group at Deloitte, a Big 4 accounting firm, and obtained his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. While at GSS, John obtained his Certified Profession Guardian Conservator (CPGC) license and serves as one of GSS’s designated CPGCs.

Outside of work, John is an avid tennis player, concertgoer, and film buff. He also maintains a second career as a stand-up comedian and is a regular performer at clubs and venues all over the Northwest.
